Bells are Ringing!

The PSG Raleigh Team rung up some Holiday Cheer by partnering with The Salvation Army to raise money. Folks volunteered to ring bells at The Cary Towne Center mall. As you can see by the photos, a good time was had by all. Way to go PSG Raleigh & Happy Holidays!!!

Chesapeake Tech of the Year!

Congratulations to John Allen who was named the Chesapeake 2014 Tech of the Year!
Peer nominations were key, but the technician scorecard that Kevin developed
push it over the line.
He had max spot dollars for the team on top of a can-do attitude.
Way to go John!!!

A Calling

Several years ago Piedmont upgraded their phone system to a VOIP system to improve to streamline communication as the company was expanding.

The existing system that we had in Greenville was only a few years old at that time. The old Samsung system was boxed up and placed in our storage room after the new installation where it sat and began collecting dust.

Late this past year during some much needed spring cleaning, Mark Swinson came to me and asked, "H.B. , what do you want to do with this phone system?" I pondered his question for about twenty seconds when I got a little nudge to call Walter Strathy, Executive Director of the 3rd Street Community Center. The center is based in the old 3rd Street School which was built in 1929. The Pitt County School System had put the beautiful old Florentine style building on the market a few years back. It was finally purchased by a local plastic surgeon, Dr. Richard Rizutti (PSG Customer) and his wife Meredith. The building was in a beautiful neighborhood when it was built, but now it is in one of Greenville's most distressed areas. The Rizuttis had a vision to revive the old place and help the children in the community. It has been two years since Third Street Community Center opened and there have been between 800 and 1000 volunteers working on the site, including the folks in the neighborhood.

As you can imagine, they are in constant need of funding to keep the place up and to launch new programs.

Now, back to Mark Swinson's question and my nudge to call Walter. That very morning, Walter had been having an extended devotional time. He said that at the end of his prayer time he began to write a list of capital needs for the center. At the top of the page was a phone system. Within an hour I called and said, "Hey Walter, would you be interested in a like-new Samsung phone system for the center?" His staff later told me that he was jumping up and down and shouting for joy after we ended our conversation.

Today, Scott Johnson and I were invited to a monthly lunch that they host for local businesses. The system has been installed and works as well as it ever did. They said that the building is much safer for the kids and programs run smoother because of it. Walter and his great staff send a big thanks to Piedmont Service Group.

IREM Golf Tourney - Chesapeake

Last Friday, Shawn Campbell, Corey Brown, Garry Nichols and Ashley Daurio participated in the IREM Golf Tournament at Hells Point Golf Course in Virginia Beach.   Corey and Shawn represented Piedmont Service Group on a team with two of our customers:  Henry Wilcox from First Potomac Realty and Mike Duffy from Mitsubishi Chemical. Despite the less than perfect weather, a great time was had by everyone!

Garry and Ashley manned the PSG tent on hole 14 as a platinum sponsor of  the tournament.  At their table they asked teams to participate in the Red Solo Cup Challenge.

The Red Solo Cup Challenge is a challenge for each individual team, where each player has to use the red solo cup somehow to hit the ball for the first hit of the hole they are on.  It was amazing to see the different ideas each player came up with on how they were going to use the red solo cup. Some worked perfectly, some not so well.  You can see by the picture below, Mr. Corey Brown chose to put his ball on top of the cup and it worked well for him.  Each team of 4 cost, $20 and teams of 3, $15 to participate, there were 16 teams in the tournament.

They raised $215 for the For Kids organization!
Way to go!!!

WeCare - Donated Goods Day

Recently PSG Raleigh held  a Donated Goods Day. Our last one turned out so well, due in large part to the huge generosity all of you, that we couldn’t help but want to do it again.
This time around we donated to Dorcas Ministries on Highhouse Rd in Cary. The WeCare team met with Rose Cornelious not too long ago and was overwhelmed by her passion for Dorcas Ministries and what they do there  for the community. Dorcas and Piedmont had already developed a great professional relationship through projects and maintenance and this new extension of that relationship is further proof of the great people within both organizations.
